We had an incredible time in Douro Valley with Antonio. The boat ride was beautiful, and the wine tastings were very well informed. Antonio was an amazing guide, he was so knowledgeable and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure our group had a great experience in all aspects of the day. We hope to come back and would definitely use Deltatur and Antonio again!
We were picked up at our Airbnb by our wonderful guide Miguel. The personal service shown to us right at the beginning of our day long tour was a sneak peak of the rest of the day. The four of us were driven to the Douro Valley where we caught a boat and traveled up the river to a wonderful stop for lunch. The food served was amazing and delicious. It was served family style and we had, beef, salad, rice, potatoes, chips, cheese, breads and prosciutto. We thought we will never eat all this food but we did. I would go back to this location just to have another meal here. We then took the train back to town and drove to a vineyard where we were served a tasting of wines , ports and olive oil. the young lady serving us gave an excellent description of each. We then headed back to Porto along a different route which was very picturesque, stopping for some amazing views and photos.
Through this whole experience was Miguel who never stopped being helpful, sweet, knowledgeable and funny. None of this would of been as memorable or fun if we didn’t have Miguel as our guide. If you have the chance to take this tour see if you can have Miguel as your guide.
The combination of activities and different ways of transportation was nice (boat, train, car). Very nice lunch with beautiful view of the river. We visited an olive oil museum and also had a wine tasting there. Despite our guide Sylvia being more than 30 minutes late to pick us (she did phone) up she did a great job and gave us a bonus visit of a beautiful church on the way back to Porto – worth including in the program? To complete the day it could be nice to add a visit to a porto estate as well.
